The 50/50 team offers 14-17 year olds the opportunity to come to Poacher as a participant for half of the time and a helper on the staff team for the other half which will enable you to build up your work experience and see what Poacher is like from the other side.
There will be a range of activities throughout the day and in the evening especially for 14-17 year olds.
There are two different options within the 50/50 option:
- You can attend Poacher alone and become a member of the Poacher 50/50 Unit. This is a great opportunity to make new friends and have a fantastic experience BUT it may not be suitable for all. You would need to have experience of having camped before and be happy taking care of yourself, the subcamp team will be your group leaders for the week. The Poacher 50/50 Unit will be fully catered for by the Unit Team and the cost will be £130 for your food and activities.
- If you wish to apply for a 50/50 Place but camp with your unit and be catered for by your unit, the cost will be £80 for the activities. You will need to pay your food cost direct to your unit.
Applying for a place on the 50/50 team
It is very simple to apply just follow these few steps:

You will need to make sure you stand out by telling us what your interests and skills are (check social media posts for the range of skills and interests needed), the awards you might be working towards and the finer details like your contact details, your leaders and your parents.
You'll also be asked to tell us where you'd like to camp at Poacher, will this be as a part of the 50/50 team group or with your unit on the 14-17 or a participant subcamp? - After you have applied you need to ask your leader to send a supporting statement to 5050staff@poacher.org.uk to verify that you are part of their group, and that you are a good fit for the team. Your application will not be reviewed until we have received this supporting statement.
There are a limited number of places so we advise you to apply as soon as possible, so we can find the best fit for you. A range of teams are recruiting from Admin to Media to Creative so ensure you put as much info as possible!
