    Getting Knotty with International Friendship

The 1st of August is internationally recognised as Scouting's Birthday as the very first camp, on Brownsea Island, started on the 1st of August 1907.

The Scout necker or scarf is traditionally linked to Scouting and Guiding as an essential piece of uniform and identity. So on this World Scout Scarf Day or International Friendship Day, are you wearing your necker with pride? How do you secure it?

Do you know about friendship knots? They aren't just a handy way to secure and ensure your necker doesn’t fall off but is also a sign of friendship, unity, and an everlasting connection between both old and new friends.

Check out how to tie a friendship knot on our social media channels. Why not make new friends and tie their neckers for them?

I'm the Web Content Manager and looking after our new Blog News Hub. I'm excited at the possibilities of integrating more of our fabulous media teams content in a new format. This is my second poacher, although I have been part of media teams as a reporter and newspaper editor for quite a while!
