Poacher and Junior Poacher participants gathered to watch two forms of entertainment in todays Lunchtime display. Two pro BMX bikers, Kaine and Jack, captivated audiences with their amazing tricks, including 360 degrees, front flips and backflips, tail whips and many more. There was also the Wheel of Death, where Spider-Man and Superman showed off acrobatic tricks while spinning around in their individual hamster wheels.
The BMX bikers started by getting the crowd going with how high they could jump over a 12-foot bar, with the height increasing each time. Emily from 1st Waltham on the Wolds, Carnival Fest, commented, “They were very talented, and their jumping high was really good.” It got even better when the BMXers distributed free cups to the crowd of young people. Next, the BMXers performed twice to the delight of the crowd watching. Rem, Sleaford Division, Carnival Fest, said that it “takes a lot of talent and skill” to perform the tricks that Kaine and Jack were performing. Grace, 1st Waltham on the Wolds, Carnival Fest, remarked, “I really like the front flip and the tricks”.
The Wheel of Death was the second team to entertain the crowds. To get warmed up, they walked around the wheel to build gravity and momentum. Then, as their confidence rose, they started to perform tricks. Spider-Man walked onto the outside of the wheel and began to juggle, to the amazement of the crowds watching. Jayden from 2nd Desborough Scout Group camping on Folk Fest said, “It was amazing how they balanced and stood there.”
The danger then ramped up when Superman put a black sack over his head and walked around the outside of the wheel. Lathyn, 1st Raunds Scout Group, Folk Fest, exclaimed, “it was amazing!” Spider-Man then closed off the act with a skipping rope, skipping around the wheel. Archie, 4th Spalding South Holland Scout Group, Carnival Fest, explained it was “very, very, very, very, very good but very dangerous.”
